Douglas Christopher “Chris” Lanier, 63, departed this life for his heavenly home on Thursday, May 15, 2025.

Born and raised in Augusta, Georgia, Chris had resided in North Augusta for many years. He attended West Side High School in Augusta, and has kept in contact with many classmates and friends through the years. Chris retired after 32 years as a welder and maintenance mechanic at Savannah River Site. He was a devoted member of Grace Fellowship Church in North Augusta and attended until his health prevented otherwise. Chris was a Master Gardener and took great pride in his garden and helping others with theirs. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and would never miss an opportunity to say GO DAWGS!

He was married to his wife of 14 years, Pam Lanier. Other family members include his sons, Cody Lanier, Kyle Lanier, daughter, Kala Byrd (Daniel Byrd), and grandson, Beckham Byrd. He is also survived by a brother, Jerry Lanier.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Jeannette Peterson and Thomas “Tom” Lanier.

A celebration of life will be held at Grace Fellowship Church in North Augusta on Friday, May 23, at 3:30pm.
