Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, Claudia Ann Mawby, 77, beloved wife of 50 years to the late Master Sgt. (Ret.) Rickey Lee Mawby.
Claudia was a devoted wife, mother, and Nana whose life was rooted in family and simple joys. She found great happiness in caring for those she loved. Claudia was known for her cherished Sunday dinners, where family gathered around her table to share food and laughter. During the Christmas season, her kitchen became especially busy as she baked generous batches of homemade cookies for everyone to enjoy. For many years, she also expressed her creativity through cross stitching and crocheting.
Above all, Claudia was a devoted Nana to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, taking immense pride in their lives and accomplishments. She and Sarge delighted in decorating their home together for each holiday. She also enjoyed traveling to Michigan to visit family and treasured the fun and excitement of playing penny slots in Cherokee.
Claudia’s legacy lives on in the traditions she created, the love she shared, and the family she cherished so deeply.
Claudia is survived by children: Rickey Earl Mawby (Apryl), David Mawby, Sam Mawby; grandchildren: Kayla, Zack, Tylor, Devin, Alayna, Ryan, Jaida; numerous great-grandchildren; and many other nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Mawby is preceded in death by her parents: James and Lena Savage and siblings: Trudy, Tappy, Dorothy, Peggy, and Jeannie.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 13, 2026 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors.
