Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Monday, September 29, 2025, Col. Robert H. LaFrance, 81, husband of Jan LaFrance.
Bob LaFrance served over 23 years in the US Army with two tours of duty in Vietnam where he received the Bronze Star and a notable Citation from the Vietnamese government for his coordination and actions related to the mutual assistance between both governments.
His career took him and his family on two overseas tours and across multiple states.
After serving as Rhein Main AB Battalion Commander, he transitioned to Fort Gordon and medically retired.
His career did not end there as he pursued his passion to help people and earned his PHD in Psychology at LaSalle University.
“Doc” Bob opened and operated a total of three facilities over 30 years in CSRA area. Focusing on teen drug and alcohol abuse, driving school, and domestic abuse.
He loved meeting with medical students and interacting with his Metro Community in downtown Augusta.
Family members include his wife: Jan LaFrance; children: Robert H. LaFrance, Jr. (Judy), David C. LaFrance (Leanne), and Douglas J. LaFrance; grandchildren: Devyn, Andrew, Chandler, Aaren, Chace, Kerrigan, Ansley, Brode, and McKenzie; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
