Daniel Hilliard Boone, M.D.

Daniel Hilliard Boone, 68, entered into the presence of his Savior on February 10, 2026. Dan was born on October 11, 1957, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Daniel and Mary Lou Boone. A lifelong learner, Dan received his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Vanderbilt University, then went on to earn his M.D. from UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, where he also did his training in Internal Medicine. Dan began practicing in Augusta, GA, in 1987, and he used those 39 years of practice to touch the lives of the entire Augusta community. He was a larger-than-life figure known for his immense strength of character and conviction, his gentle compassion toward those who were hurting, and his gift for seeing the deeper soul needs beyond the merely physical.

Dan was a member of First Presbyterian Church since 1987 and served faithfully as an elder and leader in the Cornerstone Sunday School Class. Dan loved traveling, the outdoors, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis, and learning and teaching others, but more than anything, he loved his family and his Savior. His devotion to his family was marked by unmatched selflessness, steadfastness, and joy, and no wife or daughter has ever been more deeply or diligently cared for. Though Dan will be greatly missed, we rejoice in the knowledge that he is at perfect peace with Jesus.

Dan was predeceased by his father, Daniel Hilliard Boone. He is survived by Elena Davis Boone, his loving wife of 40 years, his daughters Katherine Davis Boone and Mary Virginia “Ginny” Boone, his mother Mary Lou Boone, his brother Warren Watson Boone (Laura Ann), his sister Ellen Boone Prasse (David), and beloved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday, February 13, from 6:00P.M. to 8:00P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors (214 Davis Road, Augusta, GA, 30909), and the funeral will be held on Saturday, February 14, at 11:00A.M. at First Presbyterian Church of Augusta (642 Telfair Street, Augusta, GA, 30901) with Rev. Mike Hearon and Rev. Mike Phillips officiating. A private graveside ceremony will follow. Pallbearers will Warren Boone, Phillip Stroud, Dr. Fred Merrill, Jim Tingen, Dr. Paul Suich, Glen Jackson, David Nicholson, and Thomas "Tock" McRae.
