Appling, GA – Entered into rest on Friday, November 29, 2024, Mr. David Majors Hamby, 82, loving husband of 41 years to Mrs. Sylvia Stacks Hamby.

Majors was a native of Augusta. He attended the University of Georgia and was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. Majors then served in the United States Army with the 101st Airborne in Vietnam. After being honorably discharged and returning to Augusta, he thoroughly enjoyed being a Scoutmaster for Troop 50. Majors was a Mortgage Banker for many years, working at both Nationwide Lending and Prime Lending. He was well known as an expert fisherman and knew Clarks Hill Lake like the back of his hand. Majors and several close friends founded the original "River Rats Bass Club" which has now grown to 25 fishing clubs in the CSRA. He was a member of the American Legion Post #192, the Elks Club, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. 

Family members in addition to his wife, include his daughters: Robyn Veal (Joey), Shelley Lynch; grandchildren: James A. Wombles, Jr. (Valerie), Chase Lynch; three great grandchildren; two nephews and a niece.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Westover Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
