Entered into rest on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, Dorothy “Dot” Burdashaw Parrish, 93, loving wife of 68 years to the late Dr. Robert Parrish.
Dot was born on January 22, 1932, to Dr. William Jennings and Ida Lake Burdashaw. She was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta, Georgia. She graduated from Tubman in 1949 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1953 from the University of Georgia. While at Georgia, she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority where she served as the sorority secretary. She was later employed by Richmond County School system as a first-grade teacher.
Dot was a member of Trinity on the Hill Methodist Church since she was a child. She was a member of Adults Couples and Singles Sunday School Class, Sanctuary Choir, Prime Time Singers, Delegate to North Georgia Annual Conference, and Sunday school teacher. She was a member of Bible Study Fellowship for ten years. Dot directed weddings at Trinity on the Hill for 18 years, inspiring her to write a book “Planning and Directing a Wedding: Guidelines for a Bride, Mother, and Director.” She was President of Country Hills Garden Club and assisted with wildflower beautification projects throughout the Augusta area. She also enjoyed her social group “Peaches.” Dot will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She deeply impacted many lives in countless ways.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Agnes Schmitz, sister-in-law Ann Barnes and son-in-law Eric Center. The legacy she leaves behind include daughters: Joy Parrish Simmons (Jimmy) and Cindy Parrish Center; grandchildren: Erin Simmons Wilder (Whit), Bailie Simmons Ussery (David), Blake Center (Catherine), and Barrett Center (Samantha); great-grandchildren: Ellie-Kate Wilder, Lilly-Grace Wilder, Simmons Ussery, Boyd Ussery, Charlie Center and Anderson Center; and many loving nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held December 27, 2025, at 11:00am in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Roy McVeigh officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday at 10:00am prior to the service. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
