Dearing, GA - Douglas Bell, 69, of Dearing, Georgia died Friday, September 8, 2023, at Piedmont Augusta Hospital after a two-year battle with cancer.
Doug was born December 22, 1953, in Albermarle, North Carolina, the son of John Caswell Bell, Jr. and Peggy Bell. A graduate of North Stanley High School and United Electronic Institute, he worked as an Instrument Technician for 42 years. Doug and his wife Pamela (Kersey) were married December 30, 1976, and they were longtime residents of Augusta.
Doug was an active member of Crossroads Fellowship Church where he served as an elder and deacon as well as being a proud member of the choir. He learned to play the guitar as a youth and carried with him a lifelong passion for music.
He was always eager to volunteer, whether at church building sets or helping with crafts at Vacation Bible School or helping with repairs with a friend’s car or at their home.
Doug was also an avid car and gun enthusiast and loved to go camping with friends and family. He never passed up an opportunity to sit around a campfire, roasting marshmallows with his grandchildren.
Doug had a steady demeanor, a great sense of humor, loved working on cars and listening to rock and roll oldies. He had an abundance of love and humor to share with his family despite his long illness.
He is survived by his wife: Pamela; children: Jan Easton (Seth), Leah, Leslie and Jacob Bell (Tessa); grandchildren: Cameron and Harper Easton, and Caswell and Tinsley Bell; sister: Anita Sandknop (Jim); and stepmother: Shirley Morris-Bell.
There will be a celebration of life and a memorial service on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at Crossroads Fellowship Church, 3875 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, Georgia 30909.
