Doyle Early Windham

Doyle Early Windham, 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, in Waynesboro, GA. Doyle was born in Midville, AL to Henry Early and Dorothy Olene Windham on June 2, 1946. He grew up learning to love Jesus and had a desire to share Jesus with anyone he met.

As a teenager, Doyle enlisted in the United States Army, where he served his country proudly, eventually earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served 12 years in the US Army, which included combat service in Vietnam. During his enlistment he was honored to receive several awards and accolades. They include: The National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, The Purple Heart, The Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. He loved when someone approached him and thanked him for his service, and he always had a story to tell about his service time.

Upon leaving the Army, Doyle entered into a lifelong career in law enforcement. He served in several surrounding areas including the city of Waynesboro, Sardis and Grovetown. He also served as a Public Safety Officer with Augusta University.

Doyle had a love for Jesus that allowed him to combine that love and his love for law enforcement to become a chaplain through the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police. It was an achievement he considered a privilege and honor to have. He also loved to communicate with people all over the world with the use of his ham radios.

Doyle is survived by his beloved wife, of 40 years, Elizabeth; his children Doyle Edward (Robin) Windham, Michael Windham, Paul Windham, Jacquelina Delaina Windham, Felicia Hair, Franklin (Bernice) Clark, Drenda (Keith) Hardy; and grandchildren Will and Luke Hardy, John Windham, Jessica Cota, Michael Windham, Jr., Tiffany Milare, and Blaze Windham. He is also survived by his sisters Diane Crunkleton and Regina (Quincy) Carnley.
