A Private Family Only Service Will Be Held
Dr. William Larry Hogue, Sr., 88, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026.
Born on August 15, 1937, in Villa Rica, Georgia, Dr. Hogue was raised in Carrollton, Georgia, where he graduated from Carrollton High School in 1955.
He attended West Georgia College and Emory University before graduating from the University of Georgia in 1959. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 1963 and completed an internship at University Hospital in Augusta.
Dr. Hogue served honorably in the United States Army as a Captain and General Medical Officer before returning to Augusta to complete his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the Medical College of Georgia. He later served as an Associate Professor of Radiology and as a radiologist at the Veterans Administration Hospital.
In 1970, Dr. Hogue joined Brown Radiology Associates of Augusta, where he practiced diagnostic radiology for more than three decades until his retirement in 2004.
Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Hogue was a member of the American College of Radiology, the Medical Association of Georgia, the Georgia Radiological Society, and the Richmond County Medical Society.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Leroy Hogue and Lois Jones Hogue. Dr. Hogue is survived by his beloved wife, Sara Brewer Hogue; his sister, Linda Hogue Rhoden; his sons, William Larry Hogue, Jr. and wife Tracey, Dr. David Brewer Hogue and wife Cindy, and Michael Thomas Hogue and wife Lisa; his grandchildren, Larry Hogue III, Mitchell Hogue, Dr. Christopher Hogue, Captain David Hogue, Jr., Andrew Hogue, Matthew Hogue, Rebecca Hogue, and Emily Hogue; and six great-grandchildren.
Dr. Hogue will be remembered for his dedication to medicine, his service to his country, and, above all, his devotion to his family.
His wisdom, generosity, and unwavering love leave a lasting legacy and will be cherished by all who knew him.
