November 25, 1962 – January 2, 2026
Edward Conklin, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on January 2, 2026, after a brief illness. He was 63.
Born in Warm Springs, California, Ed was the son of the late Henry Conklin and Shirley Olive Conklin. He was also preceded in death by his brother James Conklin of Florida and his brother-in-law Mark Garies of California.
Ed is survived by his wife, Dana Garies Conklin; his sons Bryan Conklin (wife Kate, children Lucas and Mason) of Raleigh, North Carolina; Craig Conklin (wife Karalynn, children Reid and Lucy) of Mooresville, North Carolina; and Eric Conklin (wife Jordan) of Wilmington, North Carolina; as well as his step-son Kevin Jones (wife Liz, son Jackson) of Saline, Michigan. He leaves behind his brother William Conklin (wife Indah, children Katelyn, Nicholas, and Hayden) of Manteca, California; his niece Chelsea and nephew Andrew (children of his late brother James) of Florida; and his sister-in-law Alison Garies of Mt. Ulla, North Carolina. Ed also cherished many loving relatives and friends, including dear friends Christy James & family and Boogie Worley & family of Augusta, Georgia.
Ed’s passion for bowling began in his youth alongside his family at Cloverleaf Family Bowl in Fremont, CA, where he held his first job. Throughout his life, Ed’s skill and dedication to bowling led him to achieve an impressive thirty perfect 300 games. He will be fondly remembered by the bowling communities across California, Michigan, North Carolina, and Georgia.
A proud Eagle Scout, Ed shared this honor with both his brothers and his son Eric. Ed began his career as a mechanical apprentice at Ecolabs in San Jose, where he met his wife Dana. He then moved to Holland, Michigan to work at Haworth, and later to North Carolina for a position as an engineer at Pactiv. Ed fulfilled his dream of owning bowling centers, including Moorlanes and Victory Lanes in Mooresville, NC, and managed Bowlmor Lanes in Augusta, GA, forming lifelong friendships along the way.
Ed’s commitment to family, friends, and the bowling community touched many lives, and his genuine kindness and warmth will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held this spring in North Carolina.
Ed was committed to honoring the memory of his brother-in-law, Mark Garies.
