Entered into rest on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home, Mr. Edwin Northrop “Pete” Scott, age 83.
Pete is survived by his son, Edwin Northrop Scott II; his brother, John “Jack” Scott (Klyce); his grandchildren, Edwin North Scott III and Sydney Yvonne Scott; his cousin, Ed Hysler (Linda); and family friend, Christeen Phiniezy.
A native of Augusta, Pete was a 1961 graduate of the Academy of Richmond County. He attended Augusta College before enlisting in the United States Army Signal Corps. Following basic training at Fort Jackson, he returned to Fort Gordon, where he graduated at the top of his class in Signal School. He was subsequently recruited by the White House Communications Agency, where he proudly served for four and a half years during the Kennedy and Johnson administrations.
After his military service, Pete began a career with Motorola Corporation before moving into sales with the Ben Hogan organization. He remained active in the Augusta community throughout his life, working with the Bert Yancey Board for the University Hospital Foundation and participating with the Augusta Rowing Club.
A memorial service will be held at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 12:00 noon. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home, 1101 15th Street, Augusta, GA 30901.
