Elaine Evans

Mary “Elaine” Thigpen Evans, 81 of Greenville, SC passed away peacefully at home with her beloved Bridges by her side Tuesday afternoon, February 6, 2024.

Born March 11, 1942, to William Roy Thigpen and Cora Lee Rabun Thigpen in Gibson, GA. She grew up in Augusta, GA and graduated from Richmond Academy in 1960. She married Bridges in July of 1962. They had a very full and happy life with two sons and four grandchildren.

Elaine proudly served the state of Georgia for 21 years. Many of them as the lead secretary to the District Attorney of Clayton County. A job she was extremely proud of. She retired in 2004 and then dedicated her life to serving her family.

Elaine was a God-fearing Christian most of her life. She was baptized in 1950 at Calvary Baptist Church in Augusta, GA. She was most recently a long-time and faithful member of First Baptist Church in McDonough, GA. She was a loyal servant of God dedicated to serving her church as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was the epitome of a Godly woman through and through. Now that Elaine has passed into the arms of our Lord, her Savior, her physical life on Earth is over but it is the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her.

Elaine will be greatly missed by her adoring family and her many friends. She is survived by Bridges, her husband of almost 62 years; son, David and wife Susan of Orlando, FL; son, Craig and wife Whitney of Greenville, SC; brother, William Thigpen Jr. and wife Jan of Tucson, AZ; sister Wanda Edmunds and husband Bobby of Martinez, GA; three grandsons, William, Benjamin, and Bennett; one granddaughter, Caroline; and many nieces and nephews.
