Ellen Teri Mongan passed away on May 4th, 2026, at the age of 72, surrounded by love. Ellen was born in Rochester, NY on August 7th, 1953. She was the daughter of Eleanor and William Manfredi. Her husband, Patrick Mongan, was the love of her life. They married in 1974 at sunset by the ocean and were devoted to each other for 52 years. Ellen had many talents and careers. In her younger days, she was a flight attendant and spent many years teaching dance and preschool. She was a prolific Catholic speaker and writer and wrote over 40 books throughout her life, as well as writing for multiple Christian publications. She was the founder of Little Pink Dress Ministry, hosted a weekly WOW Mom podcast, and was involved in many other Christian organizations.
But her biggest passions, besides being a devoted wife, were her love for God and for motherhood. She gave her life to Jesus when she was only 7 years old, and she shared her devout faith with everyone she met. Her husband is often heard saying, “My wife never met a stranger!” And she continually spread God’s love and joy to strangers and friends alike. She also loved to mentor young mothers and share the wisdom she had from motherhood and the great joy she found in that role. She was the biggest cheerleader for her children and the most fabulous Glamma to all of her grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family and friends, attending Mass as often as possible, dancing while everyone was watching, getting dressed up in the most glamorous outfits, and making everyday moments special and fun.
Surviving family members are her husband: Deacon Dr. Patrick Mongan; 7 of her children: Tyler (Tomoko) Mongan, Tarolyn (Dan) Robinson, Charity (Ryan) Roe, Amanda (Kyle) Young, Josh Mongan, Kaitlin (Trey) Cashwell, and Sean (Kendra) Mongan); her siblings: Julie (Keith) Ward and Alan Manfredi. She has 16 grandchildren and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws; two of her siblings; her son, Zachary Mongan; and grandchild, Amber Mongan.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 13th, from 6:30–8:00 p.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church (4921 Columbia Road, Grovetown, GA 30813), with the Rosary beginning at 6:30 p.m. and viewing at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 14th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church (4921 Columbia Road, Grovetown, GA 30813). Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park (2601 Wheeler Road, Augusta, GA 30904). In the spirit of Ellen’s fabulous sense of style, the family encourages those attending the funeral Mass to wear shades of pink (her favorite color), if they would like.
The family will receive friends and family at a celebration of life following the burial.
