Florena "Flo" Stewart Parrish

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, Mrs. Florena S. Parrish, 100, wife of the late Mr. Walter S. Parrish.

Mrs. Parrish was a native of Atlanta, GA where she met her husband Walter from Florida when he arrived to attend Georgia Tech after being in the U.S. Navy. Walt and Flo were married at the First United Methodist Church in Atlanta, GA on August 13, 1949 and moved to Augusta in 1952. They served as Youth Counselors at St. Mark Methodist Church for over twenty years and founded a coupled group called the 4-F Group: Food, Fun, Faith, & Fellowship. Flo loved her family, her friends, and her Lord. She was known as “Mom,” “Mema,” “G-Momma Flo,” “Nanny,” and “Best Friend.”

Family members include her daughters Jenny Parrish Whaley and her husband Charles, Trish Parrish Smith and husband Scott; grandchildren: Chip Whaley and wife Kim, Shawn Whaley, Ryan Harwell and wife Katie, Paige Samek and husband Colin, Jeremy Whaley and wife Kirsten, Shea Garrett and husband Cody, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Parrish was preceded in death by her husband Walt and her parents George F. and Hester Auten Stewart.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors with Rev. Rich Bowen officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Chip Whaley, Shawn Whaley, Ryan Harwell, Colin Samek, Jeremy Whaley, and Cody Garrett.
