Freddie B Richardson

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on February 18, 2025, Mr. Freddie B Richardson, loving husband of Marilyn Bell Richardson. Other family members include a daughter: Sylvia Richardson; son: Roderick Richardson; stepdaughter: Carla Walker; grandchildren: Janayia, Richardson, Olivia Jefferies, Tyler Jefferies; siblings: Shirley Cruise, Wilma Clifton Young (Johnnie), Joyce Gambrel, Barbara Jones, Brigette Jones, Rickey Jones, Brenton Copeland and Teresa Norwood (Alex); brother in law: Raymond Collier and sisters in law: Gloria Copeland and Jean Ann Tucker; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.

 Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his parents: Lucille Jones Young and Willie B. Copeland his adopted parents: Roy and Mary Lee Richardson; mother and father-in-law: Rufus Collier and Sally Collier; one sister: Sylvia Copeland, five brothers: Willie Vance Copeland, Robert Louis Copeland, Robert Yarbrough Sr., Larry Young and Michael Ray Jones.

Mr. Richardson was a native of Guntown, Mississippi and a 1965 graduate of Lowe’s High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Air Force where he remained for 6 1/2 years. Following the Airforce, he moved to California to become a deputy sheriff and soon after began a 36-year career in security with the Department of Energy. Freddie was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and loved to hunt and fish. 

A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM. with Dr. Will Dyer is officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00AM.
