Gloria L. Patrick

Gloria Louise Patrick, age 90, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. A woman of profound faith, boundless generosity, and an unwavering devotion to her family and friends, Gloria leaves behind a legacy of love that will be cherished for generations.

Gloria was born in Macon, Georgia, on November 23, 1935, to the late Charles Lowell Davis and Marguerite Worrill Davis and was a 1954 graduate of Savannah High School. On June 9, 1956, she married the love of her life, Jack B. Patrick. Together, they built a life centered on faith and family. After many years as a devoted stay-at-home wife and mother, Gloria pursued her passion for education, earning her associate’s degree in early childhood education.

For over 20 years, she taught preschool at Glen Hills Baptist Church and then First Baptist Church of Augusta. Her career was more than a job; it was a mission to provide Christian guidance and a strong foundation for the community’s youngest members. Through her kindness, patience, and Christian example, she helped shape the lives of hundreds of children and families.

Gloria’s faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her life. A dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Augusta, she served with a servant's heart as a Deacon and on the Benevolence, Pastor Search, and Contemporary Worship Welcome committees, just to name a few. She was also a loyal and beloved member of the Ballentine Sunday School class.

Gloria was known fondly as “Gaga” not only to her four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren but to their many friends as well. Gloria was remembered for always having candy in her purse, a crisp dollar bill to share, and a warm smile and hug for everyone she met.

Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack; her parents; her loving stepmother, Grace Slater; and her siblings, Geraldine Holliday and Lowell Davis.

Her memory will be kept alive by her daughters: Kim Duckworth (Troy) and Cindy Stephens (Rob); her sister, Vera Gillenwater; her four granddaughters: Amanda Wadsworth (Jimmy), Anna Herriman (Micah), Emma Rosario (Joel), and Christina Duckworth; her nine great-grandchildren: Addie, Millie, Colton, Jack, Mackenzie, Tibi, Brooks, Hadlee, and Lottie; and many loving nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at 3:00 P.M. in the Storey Chapel at First Baptist Church of Augusta with Rev. Dr. Roger Murchison officiating. Internment will follow in the Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
