Howell B. Lunceford, Jr.

Howell Boyce Lunceford Jr., GA, passed away on August 16, 2023 at Piedmont Hospital of Augusta.
Howell was born on November 9, 1946 to Howell Boyce Lunceford Sr. and Bennee West Lunceford of Washington, Georgia. He was a member of the Washington Wilkes High School class of 1965. He earned an Associates degree in computer science from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Howell proudly served his country for three years in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Okinawa during the Vietnam Conflict.
Howell retired from a long and successful career at the Augusta Chronicle where he was named Employee of the Year several times over the course of his 40-year tenure with them. An avid hunter and fisherman, Howell loved spending time outdoors – especially with his family.
Howell is predeceased by his beloved wife of more than 20 years, Pat Lunceford, and parents, Boyce and Bennee Lunceford. He is survived by son, Joey Lunceford (Corie), and daughter Kim Hart (Marty), his sister, Gayle McCorkle (Sammy), five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of other family members, friends and former co-workers who loved him.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in Bellevue Memorial Gardens with Rev. Tom Kalliokoski officiating The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the cemetery.
