Jackie Lanette King (Clemson) passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on the morning of Tuesday, January 21, 2025. She was born on February 4, 1955, in Spokane, Washington, to the late Jack and Catherine (Cochrane) Clemson. Jackie is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Alvin Clemson.
She is survived by her sons, Zachary Ryan King (Caitlin) and Bradley Daniel King (April); her beloved grandson, Bennett; her close friend and “adopted daughter,” Whitney Gower; and her cherished fur baby, Harper.
Jackie was raised in Smelterville, Idaho, and graduated from Kellogg High School. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Idaho and completed her physical therapy training at the University of Utah. After college, Jackie moved to Seattle's Greenlake neighborhood, where she spent her free time enjoying the lake and parks, rain or shine, and connecting with nature. In the mid-1980s, Jackie relocated to Augusta, Georgia. While she loved the life she built there, her heart always remained in the Pacific Northwest, where the fresh mountain air and stunning landscapes brought her peace and energy.
Jackie enjoyed a successful and fulfilling career as a physical therapist. In October 1990, she opened Health Success, her outpatient physical therapy clinic, where she dedicated her life to healing others and caring for thousands of patients, many of whom became close friends. One of the most meaningful chapters of her career was at Shriners Hospital, where she provided compassionate, specialized care to help children with orthopedic diseases reach their full potential.
While her work was deeply rewarding, Jackie cared most about raising her two sons. Despite running her own business, she always prioritized being present for her family, ensuring she was home in time to cook dinner. She cherished memories of her family — including their cats and dogs — filing into their assigned seating around the table every evening. Her life revolved around her sons, and everything she did was for their benefit.
Jackie also found joy in traveling and spending time with her closest friends. Some of her favorite memories included hiking the mountains overlooking Coeur d'Alene, savoring wine in Sausalito, or simply relaxing on her deck with a good book. She cherished these moments and the friendships that enriched her life.
Jackie will be remembered for her warm sense of humor, infectious laugh, and radiant smile that lit up her eyes. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone in her life feel special. She took immense pride in the accomplishments of her loved ones and found joy in celebrating their milestones.
A celebration of Jackie’s life will be held in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors on Friday, January 24, at 11:00 A.M. with family receiving friends at 10:00 A.M. She will be laid to rest with her parents in the mountains of northern Idaho at Greenwood Cemetery in Kellogg on January 30th at 2 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, honoring Jackie’s legacy of care and compassion.
