James Allen Glover, Jr.

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Monday, August 28, 2023, James Allen Glover, Jr., 78, husband of Jacquelyn Echols Glover.

Allen was a United States Airforce Veteran, serving from 1963 until 1967. He worked as a Conductor for CSX Railroad and predecessor companies from 1967 until 1996. In 2005, he retired from United Transportation Union GO-851 as Vice General Chairperson, after working there since 1996. During the 1980’s and 1990’s, he was a member of Silver Bluff Booster Club and United Cerebral Palsy. He was an avid Clemson football fan and loved listening to the Eagles.

Family members include his daughters: Celeste Szajdek (Tony) and Stephanie Curtis (Bobby); son: James Allen Glover III; granddaughter: Danielle Szajdek; grandsons: Jacob Curtis and Will Curtis; brothers: Greg Glover (Cheryl) and Phil Glover (Tricia); sister: Wanda Lowe (The late Tommy); nieces and nephews: Doug, Kristina, Hannah, Phillip, Tonya, Kaylee, Nathan, Jacob, Keith, Joey, Allison, Lindsey, Lauren and their children; aunt: Lou Ellen Willis; and lifelong friends, Wayne Johnson and Eric Mendoza and many others. He is predeceased by his father, James Allen Glover, Sr. and mother, Mildred Johnson Newman.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors with Rev. Greg Glover officiating.
