Martinez, GA – Mr. Jimmy Perdue, Sr., 90, beloved husband of Betty Jean Perdue, entered into rest on Sunday, March 15, 2026.
Born June 30, 1935, Jimmy was a lifelong resident of Augusta and a graduate of the Academy of Richmond County. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, an experience he spoke of often and with great pride throughout his life.
Jimmy retired in 1997 from International Paper after 36 years of dedicated service in powerhouse administration. Beyond his career, he served for many years on the Board of Directors of Augusta Industrial Federal Credit Union and was a member of the American Legion, Post 71.
Jimmy had a lifelong love of golf and treasured the rare privilege of playing Augusta National Golf Club 25 times. He was also honored to be part of The Masters Tournament for many years as a scorekeeper at Augusta National, spending much of his time on the iconic 13th hole.
Known for his warm personality and gift for storytelling, Jimmy truly never met a stranger. He loved sharing stories about his Air Force service, his golf experiences, and most of all, his family. His friendly spirit and sense of humor left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
In addition to his wife, Betty Jean Perdue, he is survived by his children, James “Jim” Stewart Perdue, Jr. and Julie Appleton (Tim); his granddaughters, Kendall Appleton and Kaitlyn Appleton; his sister, Shelby P. Beasley (Doug); and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The graveside service will be held Friday, March 20, 2026, at 11:30 A.M. at Westover Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
