James "Jimmy" Thomas Raley

Martinez, GA – Entered into rest on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, Jimmy Raley, 79, husband of Betty Raley.

Jimmy loved his family. He enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed cooking and grilling, playing golf, and tending to his vegetable garden. He could also often be found watching his favorite westerns and UGA football. He retired from Complete Residential, formerly Alstar, where he worked in sales for over 30 years.

In addition to his wife Betty, family members include his three children: Loyd Gulledge (Susan), Tammy Gulledge, and Shelby Peterson (Allen); six grandchildren: Hannah Peterson, Brook Peterson, Adam Gulledge (Christy), Nick Gulledge (Melissa), Emily Bond (Cody), and Devin Gulledge (Emily); three great-grandchildren: Charlotte Peterson, Reagan Gulledge, and Lincoln Bond; sister: Dale Tinley (Henry); two special nephews: Rod Raley and David Raley (Wendy); and sister-in-law: Louise Raley.

He is preceded by his daughter, Shannon Strickland and by his brothers, Calvin and Rodney Raley.

The funeral service will be held Friday, January 23, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at the Thomas Poteet & Son Chapel with Rev. Barry Claton officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30 P.M. in Rose Dhu Cemetery in Vidette, GA.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and Children’s Hospital of Georgia.
