James David Ouzts

Augusta, GA – James David Ouzts, 76, entered into rest Friday, January 12, 2024.

James was born December 21, 1947 in Augusta to the late Odell and Pauline Ouzts. He was director of the American Bowling Association. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a painter in the CSRA. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and was an avid collector of many things.

Family members include his sisters: Myrtle June Black and Mary Frances Young (James); brother: Jack L. Ouzts; nieces and nephews: Kathy Y. Sakata, Donna Young (Tommy), Diane Stokes (Jeffery), Karen Bixby (Laurence), Joel Black (Alexis), Mark Young (Melissa), Garnett Wood (Tara), Tim Black, Jason Ouzts (Jessica), and Christopher Paul Ouzts. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Annie Lucille Young (Jessie Young), nephew, Dennis Black, and niece, Denise Garcia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son. Interment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Army Captain Ryan Ritchey, Jason Ouzts, Christopher Paul Ouzts, Mark Young, Landon Young, Carson Sawyer, John Bosdell, Tim Black and Joseph Cole.
