Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Thursday, September 14, 2023, Mr. James David Tyler, 79, loving husband of Mrs. Joanne Wilson Tyler.

Jim was a native of Augusta and graduated from Aquinas High School. He worked for International Paper and retired with over 40 years. He also served as a board member of Augusta Metro Federal Credit Union for 38 years. Jim was a longtime Master Mason, a loyal member of Acacia Lodge, 32 Degree Scottish Rite, and Alee Shriner being a member of the Augusta Shrine Club. He was a faithful member at Warren Baptist Church. Jim liked to travel, especially on mission trips both domestically and internationally. His favorite pastime was playing golf.

Family members in addition to his wife include his children: Paul Tyler (Debbie) and Trudi Steerman (Clint); grandchildren: Ashlee Parker (Wes), Tyler Steerman, and Grant Steerman and great-grandchildren: Lynlee and Drew.

Heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Thrive and to the commitment given to Jim during his illness.

The graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Rev. Dave Dillard officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to International Mission Board, 3806 Monument Ave, Richmond, VA 23230.
