Jay W. Sharpton , Jr.

Evans, GA – Entered into rest on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, Mr. Jay W. Sharpton, Jr., 90, loving husband of 67 years to the late Clara Newby Sharpton.

Jay was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta. He was a graduate of Academy of Richmond County. He retired after a career in sales with RJ Reynolds. After retirement he enjoyed camping, fishing, and model trains. He was a member of Abilene Baptist Church for 55 years. 

Family members include his children: Michael Sharpton, Russell Sharpton, and Julie McCants; grandchildren: Lauren Hawkins (Matt) and Tara Hughes (Cody); great grandchildren: Harper Reese Hawkins and Hudson James Hawkins.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Rev. Bill Harrell officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
