Jean Borinstein

Jean Peacock Borinstein, 86, entered into rest Saturday, August 23, 2025 following a lengthy illness.

Jean was a pioneer. She was an only child born in Cochran, GA to the late Ebb and Thelma Peacock. She was close to her parents, with many friends in the community. In high school, at 5 feet 4 inches tall, she was a star basketball player, a beauty queen, and the valedictorian of her 1955 graduating class. In an autobiography written in her senior year, she aspired to go to secretarial school, be the highest achieving student and work at a bank in Atlanta. She attended Crandall Business College in Macon, Georgia. She also mentioned wanting to marry a man with a small business and raise her children in a six room home. As it turns out, she became the vice president of Bibb Distributing, owned her own business, and raised her children in an environment that was beyond her expectations. At Bibb Distributing, she rose from office manager to Vice President. She loved her work and the people she met in this community. She was as devoted to her coworkers as she was to her family. When she left Bibb, she focused her determination in a creative direction and became a florist. Outside of her work, she was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her children always came first to her. She adopted a newborn, Kristy, in 1974 as a single mother. Later, as a much older woman, she adopted her grandson, Greg. She was an accomplished and brilliant woman, much loved by her family and friends.

Family members include her daughters: Dr. Monica Wright (Bob) and Kristy Kirton (Roger); grandchildren: Gage Jackson, Greg Borinstein (adopted), Makanna Muse, and Jacob Wright; and great grandchildren: Ebben Jackson, Hayzel Jackson and Robin Jackson.
