Jeannette Sibert Dorn

Mrs. Jeannette Sibert Dorn, 94, of Augusta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025, after an extended illness.

Jeannette was born on August 12, 1931, in Randolph County, Georgia, to Otis and Belle Mitchum. In 1934, she moved with her family to Augusta, the city she lovingly called home for the rest of her life.

In 1949, Jeannette married Thomas Wallace Sibert, and together they raised three children: Thomas Jr., Pamela, and James. After Thomas’s passing in 1980, Jeannette married Wallace Manly Dorn in 1983, and they shared thirteen blessed years of marriage until his passing in 1996.

Jeannette worked for Owens-Illinois, retiring after 19 years of dedicated and faithful service. Following her retirement, she and Wallace enjoyed traveling the world, visiting destinations across Europe and the Middle East.

A woman of deep faith, Jeannette loved her church and lived out her Christian values through service. She was a longtime member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and West Acres Baptist Church, where she found great joy in teaching Sunday School and serving in the AWANA ministry. She touched countless lives with her kindness, steady spirit, and unwavering devotion to the Lord.

Jeannette is preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Belle Mitchum; her husbands, Thomas Wallace Sibert and Wallace Manly Dorn; her sister, Mary Louis Britt; her brothers, Otis Mitchum Jr. (Buddy), Harry Lloyd Mitchum (Pete), and William F. Mitchum (Billy); and her son, Thomas Wallace Sibert Jr.

She is survived by her children and daughter-in-law: Mrs. Pamela (David) Baynham, Mr. James Kenneth (Leslie) Sibert, and Mrs. Angela Sibert; as well as her six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and four step-grandchildren.

Jeannette’s loving heart, steadfast faith, and devotion to her family will be cherished always.

A private family service will be held on December 13, 2025. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Thomas, at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Augusta, Georgia.
