Jeannie Bussey Sinko

Grovetown, GA — With hearts full of love and gratitude, we share that Jeannie Bussey Sinko, age 86, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 8, 2026. She is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Charles D. Nelson and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Jeannie leaves behind a family who cherished her deeply: her sisters and brother, Margie Brewer (Raymond) of Saluda, SC; Jim Bussey (Janice) of North Augusta, SC; and Coni Sansom (Bert) of North Augusta, SC; her cousin, Barbara Ross of Beech Island, SC; her brother-in-law, George Sinko (Jean) of Fort Myers, FL; nine nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and one adored great-great niece and one great-great nephew. She was a loving presence in their lives and a steady source of encouragement, wisdom, and prayer.

A proud 1960 graduate of Barrett School of Nursing, Jeannie earned her BSN and answered a lifelong calling to care for others. She devoted more than 50 years to nursing, beginning at University Hospital, continuing at Cobb General Hospital, and later retiring from Doctor’s Hospital before extending her compassion through home health services. To Jeannie, nursing was never just a profession—it was a ministry of love.

Jeannie’s tender heart extended to all of God’s creatures. An avid animal lover, she was a devoted member of Boston Terrier Rescue of South Carolina and was joyfully fostering two sweet companions, Susie and Heidi. She lovingly read them bedtime stories, treating them as family and delighting in their companionship.

A faithful and active member of Church of the Holy Comforter, Jeannie served as a greeter, where her warm smile and gentle spirit made everyone feel welcome. Her faith was lived out daily through kindness, humility, and service. A devoted Christian, she touched countless lives simply by loving others well.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Church of the Holy Comforter, 473 Fury’s Ferry Rd. Martinez, GA 30907, with Rev. Glenn Palmer and Rev. Dr. Joe Bowden officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Preston King, Trey King, Tyler King, Jeff Bussey, Graham Brewer, and Bobby Carr.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Kathryn Miller, Jeannie’s cherished neighbor and dear friend, and to Bao-Ling Adam, Lisa Smith, and Dr. Rebecca Talley for their compassion, care, and steadfast presence.
