Augusta, GA – Jeff Thomas Brown, 81, of Monroe, Walton County, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Augusta Villas.
Born in Monroe, Georgia on April 25, 1944, he was the son of the late Homer and Effie (Johnson) Brown.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Effie J. Brown; his sisters, Bernice L. Brown Harris and Ellen Brown McClure; and his brothers, Alfred E. Brown and Emanuel F. “Bo” Brown.
Jeff proudly served his country in the United States Army during the administrations of Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, and Jimmy Carter. While in the Army, he served as a Field Artillery Sergeant and Specialist Four. He was honorably discharged in 1972, reenlisted, and continued his service until his final honorable discharge in 1977. Jeff was a decorated Vietnam War veteran.
Above all, family was the center of his life, guided by faith, kindness, and a deep love for those closest to him.
He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Jean Carson (Nathan Brody Carson) of Fishers; his son, Michael Thomas Brown of Florence; and his grandchildren, Manuel Steven Ortiz, Morgan Ashley Ortiz, Stanley Hasty Herting III, Lindsey Noelle Herting, Brandon Jack Carson, Michael Thomas Brown, and Zachary Tyler Brown.
He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Robin M. Aiken, Mary M. Knight, and Jerald M. McClure.
May his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors. Interment will follow at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
