Augusta, GA – Jennifer Kimbrell, born February 4, 1959, in Atlanta, Georgia, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, July 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

• Nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, in-laws, friends, neighbors, students and random people she met and befriended
Jennifer grew up in various places, including Georgia, Illinois, Arizona, England, Texas, and Kansas, an Air Force brat, as her father, Richard, moved to various assignments. As a 12-year-old, she traveled to Scandinavia by ship on a school trip. In addition to her studies in school, she played clarinet and performed in the marching band during junior high and high school. She graduated at the top of her high school class as co-valedictorian. After high school graduation from Junction City High School in Kansas, she attended the University of Georgia for two years, carrying a tuba as part of the Bulldog marching band and majoring in English. Unable to pin down an actual job with an English degree, she transferred to the Medical College of Georgia.
Jennifer graduated from Medical College of Georgia in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in nursing and later passed her boards to become a registered nurse. While in school in Augusta and attending First Presbyterian there, she met the love of her life, Charles. Jennifer and Charles married on April 30, 1983.
In 1988, Jennifer gave birth to twins Jonathan and Kayla. In 1994, Grant joined the family. Jennifer homeschooled her children through high school and during that time began using a writing curriculum called IEW. She fell in love with it and eventually began teaching writing using the curriculum. Over the years, she helped many homeschoolers master writing using the IEW method.
Jennifer was passionate about many things. A founding member, with her husband, of Christ Church Presbyterian in Martinez, Georgia, she loved music and sang in the choir for many years. She loved to laugh. In a crowd, you could often find her by following her trademark laugh. She adored all things Italy, where she traveled with her husband, son and daughter-in-law in 2021. Jennifer was an avid reader and had a room in her house dedicated to JRR Tolkien’s The Hobbit.
Jennifer loved family dinners, morning walks, and sipping coffee on the back deck. She was passionate about teaching God’s Word and memorizing scripture. She served faithfully for years in Children’s Ministry at Christ Church Presbyterian, where her memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, with visitation at 10 AM and service at 11 AM. The address is 4201 Southern Pines Drive, Evans, GA 30809.
