“Death is beautiful when seen to be a law, and not an accident.” Henry David Thoreau
Jimmie Dallas Michau Entered into rest on Sunday, February 15, 2026. Jim was the loving husband of Margery Anderson Michau.
Jim Michau, devoted husband, father, engineer, veteran, and outdoorsman, passed away leaving behind a legacy of service, hard work, and deep love for family and nature.
Married to his beloved wife since 1969, Jim built a life centered on faithfulness,
responsibility, and quiet strength. Together they raised three children—Kyle, Mary, and Joey—who carry forward his values of perseverance, loyalty, and appreciation for the outdoors. He is survived by four grandchildren Nova, Lyric, and Mason (Joey) and Gracie (Mary). Jim is survived by his sister Janet Blackmon and preceded in death by his three brothers Gene, Donnie and Larry. Jim proudly served two tours in the Navy Seabees in Vietnam, demonstrating courage and dedication to his country. Following his military service, he pursued higher education at the University of South Carolina, where he earned a degree in mechanical engineering. He went on to build a respected professional career with International Paper Company, contributing his technical skill and disciplined work ethic over many years.
Outside of his professional life, Jim’s greatest joy was the outdoors. He loved fishing and surfing on Pawleys Island as well as hunting and spending time in the coastal wilderness. Whether casting a line at sunrise, walking the marshes, or sharing stories from the field, he found peace in nature and treasured every opportunity to share those experiences with family and friends. He often said he wished he could spend every day outdoors, and those who knew him best will always remember the calm happiness he found there.
Jim will be remembered as a loving husband, a proud father, a dedicated veteran, and a man whose life was defined by integrity, humility, and an enduring love of the natural world. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
