John Perez Techaira

Augusta, GA – Staff Sergeant John “Mr. T” Techaira, U.S. Army (Ret.), of Hephzibah, Georgia, was called home by Our Heavenly Father on April 19, 2026 at 6:15 AM, at the age of 80. He was born on February 4, 1946 in Barrigada, Guam, to Gloria Bontugan Perez and Jose Cruz Techaira. After graduating from John F. Kennedy High School in Tamuning, Guam, John joined the United States Army where he earned a college degree from Central Texas College and proudly served his country for 20 years, including tours in Vietnam. He was a deeply cherished and loved father, grandfather, and friend, and his presence will be desperately missed.

Reunited with his late wife, Hye-Sook Lee Techaira, John is survived by his sisters, Connie Lynn and the many Margarets; daughters Lina Techaira Clark and Sarah Lee Techaira-Laws; and grandsons, Jonathan and Jaylen.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the burial at Hillcrest Memorial Park following.
