Joyce Marie Krementz of Augusta, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on December 14, 2025, surrounded by family.
Joyce was born to William and Mary (Mildred) Kaiser on November 19, 1934, in Louisville, KY. Joyce lived across the Ohio River from Louisville in New Albany, IN, until 1965. She was a graduate of Loretto High School and St. Joseph School of Nursing, both in Louisville, KY. Joyce lived in Lexington, KY from 1965-1984; Aiken, SC from 1984-2002; and Augusta, GA from 2002 until her death.
Joyce married Rich Krementz in 1956 and they remained happily married until Rich’s passing two years ago. Joyce is survived by her children Richard Jr. (Valerie), Theresa (Eric), Edward, Daniel (Rebecca); fifteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Joyce was predeceased by her siblings Bill, Jack, Louis, Darlene, and George; daughter Mary Sue; and daughter-in-law Erin.
Joyce was a devout member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church. She was also a member of Covenant Community in Lexington, KY from 1974-1984, then joined the Alleluia Community in Augusta, GA in 1984. She was a Full Covenant member of Alleluia from 1991 until her death.
Joyce was a tremendously caring wife, mother and grandmother. She adored her husband Rich and deferred to him without her children even knowing. For example, her children used to think that their father would eat anything, when actually Joyce usually only cooked what Rich liked, even though she had an appetite for many other foods. She is remembered by her children for her delicious home-cooked meals and desserts. She whole-heartedly supported her children’s activities – basketball, baseball, soccer, horseback riding, to name a few. Joyce was a prayer warrior who faithfully interceded for her family and friends. After Rich retired, Joyce attended daily mass with Rich until she was no longer physically able. Joyce was a straight-shooter and could be counted on to tell you the truth with love. Joyce had a healthy enjoyment of competition, playing daily Scrabble or card games with Rich, and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events until she was no longer able. She taught her children to forgive and ask forgiveness, and she wanted her family and friends to know that she loves them.
Visitation for Joyce will be held at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Home, 214 Davis Rd, Augusta, GA on Monday, December 22, 2025. The family will receive extended family and friends from 6:00-7:00 PM, followed by a rosary and celebration of life at 7:00 PM.
Joyce’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 23 at 1:00 PM at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Augusta, GA, followed by the burial at the Alleluia Community Cemetery in Dearing, GA.
