Kate N. Whitaker

Martinez, GA – Mrs. Kate N. Whitaker, 81, beloved wife of the late C. Kenneth Whitaker, entered into rest on August 21, 2025.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 25, 2025, in the Thomas Poteet and Son Chapel with Pastor Barry Clanton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Whitaker was a beloved teacher for over 30 years at Hillcrest Baptist School. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed making wedding cakes occasionally. Mrs. Whitaker will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who would do anything for her family and friends.

Mrs. Whitaker is survived by her children, Darrell Moore, Amy Tapley (Ray), Kent Whitaker (Dana), Warren Whitaker and Wendy Nelms (Keith); her grandchildren, Katelin Tapley, Sage Moore, Cody Moore, Tucker Whitaker, Abby Tapley, Tyson Whitaker, Kevin Whitaker and Lastenia Scaggs; her siblings, Billie Jo Sullivant, Leslie Watford and Charles Hick; and by many other loving family members. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Whitaker is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Toni Lanier.

The family would like to thank KeKe and Ty for their loving care of Mrs. Whitaker.

The memorial service will be held Monday, August 25, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son Funeral Directors with Pastor Barry Clanton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
