Linda Leckie Lorick

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Sunday, January 25, 2026, Linda Lorick, 82.

Linda passed away peacefully at her home after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Robert Powell Leckie and Mary Rodgers Hamilton. Linda grew up in Blackshear, Georgia with her older brother and two younger sisters. After graduating from Blackshear High School, she moved to Augusta to attend nursing school. She graduated from the Barrett School of Nursing and started her career at University Hospital as an RN. While in nursing school, she was set up on a blind date with a man named Herbert. This was all arranged by Becky Brown and Raymond Skelton. They ended up getting married and were together for almost 60 years when Herbert passed away. She enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of several bridge groups. She played at the Bridge Center for many years, and her last game was with the Camelia Bridge Club.

Linda worked for over twenty years at the Walter Shepheard Blood Center. She loved going out in the CSRA on mobile drives. Her favorite was the churches. She said that they always had a wonderful meal prepared for them when they arrived. Linda loved to cook, and food was a big part of her life. She was always planning meals and making sure that everyone had enough to eat. She could cook just about anything, but her fried chicken was requested the most. Linda loved traveling. She and Herbert went on many trips together as well as with their children. She would become a big Georgia fan when it included a trip somewhere for an away game. She caught the bug for foreign travel when she and her daughter travelled for five weeks around Europe. She couldn’t get Herbert to go anywhere outside the United States, so she joined a travel group in Milledgeville along with her sister. They took trips all over the world. Herbert joined her when they took trips in North America.

Linda is survived by her children: Herbert Lorick IV “Cal” (Michelle) and Mary Lorick Wright (Mike); grandchildren: Megan Lorick, Anna Lorick, and Katherine Wright; brother: Robert Powell Leckie (Lynda); sisters: Ginger Cargile (Thurman) and Karen Lee (Jim); sisters-in-law: Tina Dunn (David), Linda E. Lorick, and Stepanie Lorick, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Sarah for all her help this past week while Linda was at home. Cal and Mary would like to thank their cousin Teresa for all her help in making sure Linda was comfortable and pain free. They don’t know what they would have done without these wonderful ladies.

A huge thank you to Karen and Jim for moving in with Linda after Herbert passed away. You were an answer to Cal and Mary’s prayers. They know that Linda enjoyed you all being there with her.

The graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at Westover Memorial Park with Pastor David Hunter officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 825 Greene St, Augusta, GA 30901.

The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
