Lois Jeanne Lindsey

Lois Jeanne Lindsey, wife of the late Rev. Lucien Dale Lindsey, entered into eternal rest with her blessed Savior Jesus, and her beloved husband Lucien on February 3, 2026. Born on March 7, 1938 in Oklahoma, Jeanne was the daughter of the late Howard Wilson Savage and the late Muriel Helen Savage of Oak Ridge, TN. Her early childhood was spent in Oklahoma City, OK; Paducah, KY, and Oak Ridge, TN as one of the initial founding families in the “Secret City” in the Smokies.

She attended Cincinnati Conservatory of Music then Oklahoma University where she graduated in 1960 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, remaining a faithful Sooner throughout her life.

She met the love of her life, Lou, at OU, and they married a year after graduation on August 27, 1961. Together they set off to Chicago for seminary which set them on their lifetime journey of service and ordained ministry in the Episcopal, Anglican, and Catholic churches. From inner-city Chicago to the Cheyenne reservation in Oklahoma, from parish life in Oklahoma to Full Covenant life in Alleluia Community in Augusta, GA, Jeanne has lived a full life of support and ministry in every place she and Lou were called to serve. In addition to the countless ways she served as a faithful partner and support as the wife of a priest and bishop, she was also involved in Cursillo, Walk to Emmaus, and Kairos prison ministry to women in several prisons in Georgia and Tennessee.

She enjoyed music in all its many styles and genres and always had a song in her heart and often in her house, a gift she shared with many through her flute, her voice, and her writing of many songs of praise and worship. She was delighted by all the humble musical efforts of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and patiently encouraged all the screeching of beginning clarinets, drums, guitars, basses, and bagpipes. Heaven certainly has a delightful new soprano joining the choir!

Jeanne was predeceased by her husband Lucien, her brother Richard, and grandsons Shaun and David.

She is survived by her brother Joe Savage of Lexington, KY, son Greg Lindsey of Front Royal, VA, daughter, Mary Painter of Austin, TX, son Mike Lindsey of Martinez, GA, and son John Lindsey of Wilmore, KY including their spouses, children, and grandchildren.
