Lorna Ann Young

Lorna Ann Young, 89, of Augusta Georgia, entered into eternal rest on February 10, 2024 surrounded by her family. 

Born on March 22, 1934, in Omaha Nebraska. She was the daughter of the late Gregory and Gail Schumacher. A woman of great faith, she was a devoted member of St. Mary On The Hill Catholic church and attended daily mass most of her life. Lorna served as a Eucharistic minister for over 50 years, and spent many hours in the Eucharistic adoration chapel. She had a profound devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Her faith always came first, and she passed that legacy on to her children and grandchildren. 

Lorna was an exceptional artist, and many of her watercolors are spread throughout the homes of her loved ones. She especially loved painting Our Lord and Our Lady. She was an exceptional cook, and all her loved ones delighted in her culinary gifts. 

Preceded in death by her husband, Don Young, and survived by her children, Kevin Young of Augusta, Angela Thompson of Greenville, SC, Juli Feltes (Eric) of Greenville, SC, Terese Platte (Bill) of Edgefield, SC, twenty grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her brothers, David Schumacher of Omaha, NE, Galyn Schumacher of Las Vegas, NV, and survived by her sister, Trudie Hughes of Dallas, TX.

Funeral Mass to celebrate the life of Lorna Ann Young will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 11 AM at St. Mary On The Hill Catholic Church. She will be laid to rest at Westover Memorial of Augusta, Georgia. Friends and family are invited to join in the recitation of the most holy rosary at St. Mary On The Hill Catholic Church at 10:30 AM prior to the funeral mass. Friends and family are also invited to share in a luncheon immediately following the burial at St. Mary On The Hill Catholic Church social hall.
