Lt. William "Bill" Manecke

Grovetown, GA- Lieutenant William “Bill” Manecke, 77, entered into rest Sunday, April 12, 2026.

Bill graduated from Butler High School in 1968, attended Augusta Tech from 1968-1969, graduated from Northwestern University Traffic Institute in 1979-1980, and was also a graduate of the FBI National Academy in 1989. He proudly served 36 years in law enforcement, 25 of those years with the Augusta Police Department and 11 of those years with the Richmond County Sherriff’s Office where he retired.

Family members include his daughter: Amanda Manecke Humphrey; sisters: Jean Manecke and Maureen Byrd; brother: David Manecke; and former wife: Joyce Manecke. He is preceded in death by his son: Brian Scott Manecke; son-in-law: Cody Humphrey; brothers: James Manecke, Terrance “Terry” Manecke, and Robert Manecke; and parents: David and Anne Manecke.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 16, 2026 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Deacon Daniel Craig officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be members of law enforcement.
