Augusta, GA – Lynn Taylor Jones passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on July 13, 2025. A devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, Lynn was a man of faith, service, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.
Born on August 15, 1942, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Harry and Alta Jones, he was the youngest of three children and was preceded in death by his beloved sisters, Beverly Francis and Arlene Reid.
Lynn married the love of his life, Shelby Lee Bailey, on February 14, 1964, in the Salt Lake City Temple, sealed by Harrold B. Lee. Together, they built a life centered on family, faith, and service. He is survived by their four children: Cary Jones of Graniteville, SC; Chris Jones (Ginny) of Martinez, GA; Kevin Jones (Makiko) of Albertville, AL; and Jennefer Jones of Augusta, GA.
He deeply loved and was immensely proud of his grandchildren—Justin, Lauren, Lindsey, Hayley, Ken, Lisa, and Mari—as well as his great-granddaughter, Adelyn.
Lynn proudly served in the United States Army and was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held numerous leadership positions in the Church and was a devoted mentor and example to many. A dedicated Boy Scout leader, he had the special honor of guiding each of his three sons to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.
Lynn found joy in the simple things—camping, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His legacy is one of faith, kindness, and a life well-lived in service to God and others. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
We will be having a Celebration of Life this Friday, July 18, 2025, at 3:00 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2108 Eastland Dr., Augusta, GA 30909.
