Augusta, GA – Mrs. Anna Marie Gay Holley, 95, entered into rest on Friday, November 21, 2025.
Mrs. Holley was born and raised in Jefferson County, Georgia, the beloved daughter of the late John Albert Gay and Hannah Belle James Gay. After graduating from the Crawford Long School of Nursing in 1952, she married and soon began the family that would become the joy of her life.
Rooted deeply in her faith, Mrs. Holley was a devoted member of Pine View Baptist Church, where she faithfully taught the senior adult Sunday school class for more than 30 years. She also served as WMU director and answered the call to ministry as a Georgia Baptist volunteer missionary. Above all, Mrs. Holley lived a life marked by grace, devotion, and quiet strength. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister whose gentle spirit and steadfast love blessed all who knew her.
Mrs. Holley is survived by her daughter: Charlene Weathers (David); son: Grayland James Poole (Melanie); grandchildren: Clifford Hess, Soleil Smith (Jonathan), Rylan Poole (Aimee), Jace Poole, Sky Poole; great-grandchildren: Eric Hess, Guin Hess, Ember Smith, Colton Smith; brothers: Arthur Judson Gay, Sr., W.L. Cave; sister: Ruby Fielder-Thompson, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers: Cleveland Gay, Marion “Buddy” Gay, Willis Gay and sisters: Lulla Belle Cave, Reby Gay, Emma Jane Massa, Macey Maddox, Margie Blackmon, and Myra Elsie Wheeler.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025 at 11:00A.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors with Rev. John Kilpatrick officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pine View Baptist Church, 119 Pleasant Home Rd., Augusta, GA 30907 or to Broad Street Ministries, 20 Broad St., Augusta, GA 30901
