Martinez, GA –Marion Rinker, lovingly known as "Sis," entered into rest on June 15, 2025, at the age of 93. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday June 18, 2025 at 11:00 at Bellevue Memorial Gardens with Reverend Terry Doss officiating.
Sis was born on December 25, 1931, in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, to Lester and Marion Van Pelt. She married David Rinker on February 2, 1950, in Hazlet New Jersey, and together they raised six children. As an Army family, Sis and Dave were stationed at numerous locations across the United States as well as overseas, including Okinawa, Japan, and Stuttgart, Germany.
A woman of strong character and dedication, Sis was a proud member of the Eastern Star Organization for many years. She devoted over three decades of her life as a bus driver for special needs children, retiring after 32 years of service. Sis also enjoyed dancing and spending time with friends at the American Legion.
Sis is survived by her children, Debbie Sigmon and Scot (Carlesa) Rinker; her brother, Ernie (Mary Beth) Van Pelt; seven grandchildren, Michelle, Chris, Cayleigh, Camryn, Tara, Justin, and Jamie; numerous great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Marion Van Pelt; her husband, David Rinker; four children, Ricky, Pat, Jim, and Gary Rinker; and 8 siblings.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to Heartland Hospice Care and the compassionate staff at Augusta Gardens - Senior Living and Memory Care for their devoted care.
