Martha Anne Smith passed in peace on October 27, 2025, at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, C.L. Smith, Sr., and her son, Curby Lee Smith, Jr.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Anne was born in Adrian, Georgia and grew up in Blythe, Georgia. She graduated as valedictorian of Blythe High School, attended the University of South Carolina, and after graduating from Hurst Business College, she worked briefly before marriage. Later in life she worked at Augusta College.
She was the best wife and mom...always active and caring in the lives of her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had a trove of life-long friends. In conversations she listened and, more importantly, she remembered. She was witty and kind.
Her greatest joy was her family: daughter Sandra Fowler and her husband Mike; daughter-in-law, Janice Smith; grandson Mike Fowler, Jr. and his wife Stacy; granddaughter LeeAnne Jones and her husband Brandon; great-grandsons Trip Fowler and Cash Fowler; and great-granddaughters Ava Usry and June Jones.
She enjoyed traveling, reading, her iPad, the Braves, and keeping up with the activities of her great-grandchildren.
Anne had an unwavering faith in God. She was an active member of the Ruth’s Bible Class at Fleming Baptist for over 60 years. More recently she enjoyed the services of Cross Bridge Baptist.
A special thanks goes to all the caregivers and friends at The Oaks at Evans for their love and care…and fun and games!
She was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished.
