Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Friday, November 14, 2025, Mary Louise Courson, 88, beloved wife of 66 years to Jim Courson.
Mrs. Courson was a lifelong resident of Augusta who met the love of her life, her husband of 66 years, while they were still in high school. A graduate of the Academy of Richmond County, she was known for her calm spirit, quiet nature, and unwavering loyalty to those she loved.
A devoted member of Abilene Baptist Church, Mrs. Courson faithfully served as secretary of her Sunday school class and was generous with both her time and her talents. She was a selfless woman of deep faith, guided by a true heart for serving others.
In her quieter moments, she found joy in tending to her flower garden. A dedicated wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, Mrs. Courson will be missed by all who had the good fortune of knowing her.
In addition to her loving husband, Mrs. Courson is survived by daughters: Kim Courson Odum (John), Tara Courson McLendon (Steven); granddaughter: Adaire Courson Hill; brother: Phillip Crump; sister-in-law: Caroline Courson Anderson; and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents: Allie and Eugene Roy Crump; brother: Jerry Crump; and brother-in-law: Bob Anderson.
A graveside service will be held Monday, November 17, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. at Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Bill Harrell and Rev. Terry Doss officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:30 P.M. until the time of service at the cemetery.
