Mrs. Mary Earle Butler (Partridge) Martin entered into rest on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. Born on July 10, 1929 to the late Earl and Bertha Butler of Union Point, Georgia, she was the youngest of three children. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Martin is predeceased by brothers: Joseph and Frank Butler, husbands: Wallace Partridge and Ralph Martin and children: David and Mary Elizabeth Partridge.
Mrs. Martin was married first to the late Wallace Allen Partridge, Sr. of Lincoln County Georgia for 42 years. They made their home in nearby Hephzibah and were dedicated Christians who raised their five children in the church. Mary taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was an organist at Hephzibah Baptist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Partridge were graduates of the University of Georgia where they received master's degrees. Both were educators that demonstrated their love for young people through many years of dedicated service in the Richmond county school system, where he served as a high school principal while she worked as a home economics teacher. Mr. and Mrs. Partridge were proud of their children having educated two registered pharmacists, a respiratory therapist, and a software engineer. In her spare time, Mary loved cooking, sewing and playing the piano and organ.
Three years after Wallace’s death in 1988, Mary married Ralph Martin of Union Point, Georgia. Mary and Ralph were married for 10 years prior to his death.
Mrs. Martin is survived by her sons: Wallace Allen Partridge, Jr. (Helen), of Hiawassee, GA, Wayne Butler Partridge (Jane) of Blythe, GA, Frank Stanley Partridge (Moon) of Johns Creek, GA; grandchildren: Leanne Partridge Bolt (Chris) Cumming, GA, James Partridge (Jennifer) Clemson, SC, Joshua Partridge (Madison) Memphis, TN, Benjamin Partridge Johns Creek, GA; great grandchildren: David, Elizabeth, and Caroline Bolt, Sarah Grace and Dyer Partridge and Weslynn Partridge.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 11:00A.M. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
The family expresses thanks to Melinda Harris and staff at Caring from the Heart of Georgia and MSA Hospice of Augusta.
Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Union Point, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wallace Allen Partridge, Sr. and/or David Earl Partridge scholarship funds at the University of North Georgia, 82 College Circle, Dahlonega, GA 30597 or to the Music Ministry at First Baptist Church of Augusta, 3500 Walton Way, Augusta, GA 30909.
