Michael David Lloyd

The family of Michael David Lloyd, 57, of Augusta, Georgia, is devastated to announce that on May 16, 2026, he passed away peacefully in their presence. He was born on August 10, 1968, at Fort Gordon to Bettye Griffin Lloyd and Walter Lloyd, Sr. He was the youngest of five boys.

In his adult life, Michael became a skilled Instrumentation and Electrical Technician. He was employed at Syensqo of Augusta, where he worked alongside coworkers that he considered family, until the time of his passing.

Michael was an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast. Whether it was in his hometown or across the country at Yellowstone National Park, nothing made him happier than cruising on his Street Glide. He made many cherished memories on his motorcycle throughout the years. Michael was also a lover of classic muscle cars and diesel trucks. It brought him so much joy to tinker on them as his never-ending projects. He was a man whose knowledge spread over many topics. Known as a “thinker”, he was the person you called whenever you needed help. His loss will be felt deeply by all who knew and loved him.

Michael is survived by his loving partner, Sherry Collins; his daughters, Kelli (Johnny) Coleman, Kristy Sotelo, Jessica Rogers, and Sydney Lloyd, who collectively blessed him with five grandsons and two granddaughters; his mother, Bettye Griffin Lloyd; his brothers, Wesley “Buddy” (Lynn) Bryson and Walter (Brenda) Lloyd, Jr.; a host of friends and coworkers he considered family; and his sweet kitty, Bella, whom he adored. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Lloyd, Sr., and his brothers, Troy Lloyd and Darryl Lloyd.

Forgoing a traditional funeral service at Michael's request, a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 23rd at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors. The family requests that guests dress casually and not as you’re going to a funeral. If you ride, please come on your bike.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Jigarkumar Parikh; Kristen Bradley, FNP; the nurses and doctors of Piedmont Hospital’s 10 West unit; and Hospice Services of South Carolina, all of whom cared for him with genuine compassion until the end.
