Michael Reilly was born in Jamaica, Queens, New York, on April 22, 1946. He was born to Irma Merhoff Reilly and James Reilly. Mike had two sisters, Patricia and Kathleen.
Michael attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School, Archbishop Molloy High School, and Saint John’s University. Following college graduation, Mike spent twenty years in the United States Air Force. Mike’s many military assignments focused primarily on air navigation early in his career and training in his latter years of service. A career highlight was the years spent with the Strategic Air Command. Mike received numerous accolades including the Air Force Commendation Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. After retiring from the Air Force, Mike pursued a second career in training at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, South Carolina.
Mike was a member of Saint Jospeh Catholic Church and the Alleluia Community, both in Augusta, Georgia. Mike was an avid stamp collector, photographer, and gardener. He and his wife, Anna, loved to travel, enjoying the mountains of North Carolina, Alaskan cruises, and visits with Mike’s family on Long Island.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Irma and James Reilly, and by his sister, Patricia. He is survived by his wife, Anna; his children, Kevin (Suzanne), Terasa, and John (Kelli); his grandchildren, Caleb, Stephen, Joshua, Dekota, and Rose; and his sister, Kathleen (John).
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 7th, 2025, at 11:00 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Alleluia Community Cemetery in Dearing, Georgia. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 7th, 10:00-11:00, at Saint Jospeh Church before the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Alleluia Community School.
