Miriam Connell

Augusta, GA-  entered into rest on Sunday, December 29, 2024, Mrs. Miriam Kearse Connell, affectionately known as “Nanny,” passed away peacefully at the age of 88. A native of Bamberg, South Carolina, Miriam lived a life rich in love, family, and simple joys. 

She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Jefferson Connell Jr. (“Bo”) and shared a beautiful life with him, filled with memories of warmth and togetherness. Miriam had a deep appreciation for nature, delighting in the beauty of her flowers and the cheerful songs of birds. She found joy in fishing, a pastime that brought her both serenity and adventure. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family, whose love and laughter filled her days with happiness.

Miriam’s gentle spirit, unwavering love, and devotion to her family will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Family members include her son: Thomas Jefferson Connell of Augusta, Ga; daughter: Cheryl Denise New of Fort Myers, Fl, Debra Connell Sneeder of Tignall, Ga, and Miriam Diane Newman of Augusta, Ga., siblings survived by Jackson “Bootsie” Kearse of Tignall, Ga; 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, Miles and Irene Kearse to include her sister Jacirene Kearse Thompson.

 A graveside service will be held Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 12 Noon in Westover Memorial Park with Dr. Don Prosser officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 11:00 until 11:45 A.M., at the funeral home.
