AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Barnee C. Baxter, 71, husband of Martha Hall Baxter died Thursday, March 5, 2009, at Select Specialty Hospital,
Mr. Baxter was a native of Spartanburg, SC and had lived in Augusta for the past forty-seven years. He graduated from New Hanover High School in Wilmington, NC, graduated from Wofford College, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law, where he served as President of the Demosthenian Literary Society. During his forty-four year career as an attorney, he served as First Assistant United States Attorney, was in private practice and was the Chapter 13 Trustee for the Southern District of Georgia. Mr. Baxter was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church and the Beech Island Agricultural Club
Family members in addition to his wife include his daughters: Caroline Baxter Lambert and husband Dr. William D. Lambert of Tucson, AZ; Patricia Baxter Barrett and husband William M. Barrett of Charleston, SC; son: Barnee C. Baxter III of New York, NY and five grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Jim Silcox officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
If so desired, memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
