Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Sunday, April 27, 2025, Ollie Richard “Rick” Thompson, Jr., 72, preceded in death by his wife Cathy Cornett Thompson. Rick was born in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO to the late Ollie and Barbara Thompson.

A faithful Bulldog until the end, Rick attended the University of Georgia and was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. He was at his best on the golf course, at a tailgate party, or shaggin’ on the boulevard. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.

Family members include his daughter: Melissa Thompson Jansen and husband Timothy Gerard Jansen; son: Ollie Richard Thompson III and wife Devan CroweThompson; grandchildren: Lindsey Margaret Schatz, Grant Charles Schatz, Josie Alexandra Thompson, and Hardy Mace Thompson; sisters: Kathy Thompson McKnight and husband David Weeks McKnight, Ann Thompson Isbell and husband Walter Carl Isbell, and Patricia Alice Morrison; and other loving family members.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 12 Noon, at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.org
