Born in Rock Island, IL to William Joseph Green and Elizabeth Dunn Green in 1935, 1st son of 8 siblings: Sheila, Barbara, Patrick, Joe Jr., John, Mike, Kevin and Tom. Kevin is the only survivor.
As a child, Pat lived in many states because his father was a civil engineer before and after WWII, and an Army officer during the war.
Pat attended Georgetown University one year then earned a BS in Naval Science at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD., graduated June 3, 1959. He then served about 5 years in active duty, earning the rank of lieutenant. He served several years before and after in the Naval Reserve.
On June 6, three days after graduation from the Academy, he married Durelle Nickelsen at Sacred Heart Catholic Church., Pensacola FL. The service was conducted by Fr. Tom Green, uncle of the groom. The couple then received a Papal Blessing. The marriage lasted almost 67 years.
After resignation from active-duty, Pat earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering at University of Florida in Gainesville.

Pat had many active years after retirement, writing and selling online courses as well as undertaking significant yard and household projects. Later years brought decline and difficult seasons- yet, through it all, so many people offered their care and steady presence.
He passed peacefully Feb. 20, 2026. A beautiful Funeral Mass was celebrated on March 3, 2026 at St. Mary on the Hill with full Military Honors. He is laid to rest in the Church Columbarium.
