Peggy Sue Burwell (née Frost)

Peggy Sue Burwell, 80, of Hephzibah, GA, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024. Born Peggy Sue Frost on September 10, 1944, in Red Bank, NJ, she was the beloved daughter of Robert Frost and Janet Scott-Frost.

Peggy was a graduate of Middletown High School in Middletown, NJ. After high school, she began her career with EAI, where she worked on making circuit boards. She later married Richard Burwell, who served in the Army, and together they lived in Giessen, Germany for several years before returning to the United States. They resided in Kentucky, Virginia, and North Carolina before settling in Hephzibah, GA.

Peggy dedicated many years of her professional life to Parts Plus in Augusta, GA, where she worked as a bookkeeper and in other managerial roles. She later joined Augusta Mitsubishi and eventually concluded her career as a personal secretary for a private investment group.

Peggy was a special lady who touched many lives and leaves behind friends, loved ones, and a large extended family who will miss her dearly. She is survived by her sons, William Burwell and his wife, Kelly, of Liberty, NC, and Brian Burwell and his wife, Sheila Brown, of Hephzibah, GA. She was a proud grandmother to four grandchildren: Nicklas Burwell, Kody Burwell and fiancée Kiara, Trevor Burwell, and Amber Ashley and her husband Joseph. She also leaves behind one step-granddaughter, five great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, and two step-great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her loving best friend and sister, Sally Ann Robins of Augusta, and many loving nephews and nieces.

Peggy was a devoted and loving wife to the late Richard H. Burwell for 37 years until his passing. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her support, wisdom, and love, which was always in abundance. Peggy was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary and once served as president of the MOC at VFW Post 649 in Augusta, GA, and a proud member of the Cooties. She enjoyed her time on the lake with friends, affectionately known as the “Boat People.” In her younger years, Peggy was known for her fun-loving spirit, laughter, and playful pranks, bringing joy and laughter to those closest to her.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, watching movies, making flowers and crafts, solving word puzzles, having tea, and coloring with her grandchildren. Peggy’s warmth and creativity will be cherished by all who knew her.
